FIRE AND SAFETY
FIRE SAFETY: Olé Student Housing regards safety and security in the residence as being of paramount importance. Fire prevention is of critical importance in a large community environment such as the residences because so many lives can be endangered by accidents or careless actions. Therefore the following is an outline of fire safety regulations designed to keep you and your community safe.
- Fire drills will be conducted in all residences at least once a semester in terms of the by-laws and also to ensure that students are aware of the evacuation procedure.
- Tampering and or vandalizing fire equipment is a criminal offence.
- Tampering with or unauthorized use of any security and/or fire equipment is a violation of Olé Student Housing regulations
- In the interests of safety, students may on no account tamper with any alarms, fire hoses, fire extinguishers, fire escape exits or emergency exit signs, except in the case of an emergency.
- Too many electrical appliances plugged into one circuit will overload the circuit and blow a fuse, and such overloading is prohibited.
